Coming from San Francisco, California, the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club plays noise rock, garage rock, shoegazing, and neo-psychedelia genre. The band found its roots back in 1995 when Peter Hayes and Robert Turner met in high school. Even if they were playing for different bands at the time, in 1998, the two formed the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club together with Nick Jago.
Starting November 1998, they originally used the name Elements but later settled for the BRMC. By 1999, they had their 16-track demo CD, which was played in a radio station in Santa Monica. This sparked the interest of many listeners becoming “Record of the Week.” The BRMC signed with Virgin Records after countless offers from different labels.
