Braids Bio

Braids is a band from Calgary, Alberta, Canada which is made up of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Taylor Smith, and Austin Tufts. The group was formed in 2006 but it was not until 2011 that they released their debut album Native Speaker. The said release has been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2011. In 2013, the sophomore effort from the band, Flourish // Perish, was released along with the EP In Kind / Amends. In 2015, Deep in the Iris, received the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. The said release includes the songs “Letting Go,” “Taste,” and “Miniskirt.” The following year, they released the EP Companion. In 2018, Braids released the single Collarbones / Burdock & Dandelion. Braids was also the featured artist on Max Cooper’s EP Conditions One.
