Brett Burns was born in Barrie, Ontario, Canada on March 9, 1985. He played in the youth team Toronto Marlboros. He played with the North York Canadiens, Couchiching Terriers, and the Brampton Battalion Minnesota Wild picked him in the 2003 Round 1 Draft.
In the 2007-2008 World Championship, he bagged the Best Defenseman, Best Plus/Minus (+14), and a Silver Medal. He received a World Championship Medal, Best Defenseman, All-Star Team and Top 3 Player on Team Award in 2014 – 2015.
He bagged a World Cup Gold Medal in 2016-2017. In the same season, he received the Norris Trophy for being the NHL Best Defenseman. He also made the Most Goals by Defenseman and Most Points by Defenseman. He was also a National Hockey league All-Star pick in 2010-2011 and from 2014-2018.
