Bret Peter Tarrant McKenzie ONZM, commonly known as Bret McKenzie, is a multi-talented New Zealand musician, comedian, music supervisor, and actor. He became known as one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, alongside Jemaine Clement. He was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on June 29, 1976.
Bret’s musical prowess has been evident since a young age, with him learning to play several instruments including guitar, bass, drums, and piano. He has written and performed music for several projects, including Flight of the Conchords' television show and film, as well as contributing to the music of The Muppets franchise.
Along with his musical talents, McKenzie has also established himself as a respected actor, with notable roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the television series Wellington Paranormal, and The Hobbit trilogy, which also featured Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, and Graham McTavish.
