Rod Thomas, widely known as Bright Light Bright Light, is a singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer born in Neath, West Glamorgan, Wales, on October 30, 1982. His genres of music include electropop, dance, disco, house, and alternative. He has deejayed at US & EU Pride festivals, Innocent Village Fete, Glastonbury Festival, and Bestival UK festivals.
Rod has made remixes for Jewel, Erasure, Loren Allred, Dannii Minogue, Jujubee, and Katya. He released his debut album, Make Me Believe In Hope, in 2012, involving Boom Bip, Andy Chatterley, and The Invisible Men. He was number four in the 2012 Guardian Reader's Albums. His second album, Life Is Easy, followed in 2014.
In 2016, he became the first unsigned artist to perform on Graham Norton's BBC One TV show. His 2020 album, Fun City, was number one on the UK Dance Album chart. Rod has contributed to The Trevor Project, Ali Forney Center, ACLU, and For The Gworls. He is associated with Self Raising Records and YSKWN! He has opened for Ellie Goulding, Hercules & Love Affair, Elton John, and Scissor Sisters.
