Simmie Sims III, known professionally as Buddy, dropped his first single “Awesome Awesome” in 2011. Buddy was born on September 10, 1993, in Compton, California.
After the release of his single, Buddy worked with Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper. He also released his first mixtape, Idle Time, in 2014. Buddy’s single “Shine” dropped on November 2016. Nipsey Hussle made a cameo on the music video of the track.
In 2017, Buddy released the five-track EP Ocean & Montana with Kaytranada. The record which featured the single “Find Me.” Magnolia, his follow-up EP, featured Boogie and Wiz Khalifa.
In 2018, he released his debut album, Harlan & Alondra. The album includes the singles “Hey Up There” featuring Ty Dolla Sign, “Trippin” featuring Khalid, and “Black” featuring A$AP Ferg. Buddy joined Joey Badass and Boogie for the Amerikkkana Tour in the same year. He also performed with A$AP Ferg in the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.
