Bun B Bio

Rapper and CEO Bun B was born Bernard Freeman on March 19, 1973, in Port Arthur, Texas. In the 1980s, he and fellow rapper Jalon Jackson formed a group they name P.A. Militia, which later merged with the rap duo UGK to form 4 Black Ministers. After Jackson and another member left, rapper Pimp C and Bun B were left as a duo, and took back the name UGK. The two released an EP entitled The Southern Way in 1992, followed by the album Too Hard to Swallow that same year. They followed the success of these productions with Super Tight … in 1994, Ridin’ Dirty in 1996, and Dirty Money in 2001.

Rap partner Pimp C was sentenced to jail, forcing Bun B to go solo. He released his album Trill in 2005, which went to the #1 slot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, followed by II Trill in 2007, which featured the single “Damn I’m Cold” with Lil Wayne, Trill OG in 2010, and Trill OG: The Epilogue in 2013, on which he featured 2 Chainz, Pimp C, Rick Ross, and others. Shortly after the release of Trill OG, Bun B because a lecturer at Rice University in Houston, Texas, teaching a course in Hip Hop and Religion.
