Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian singer, musician, composer, writer, and political activist, born in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Brazil on August 7, 1942. He became well known for participating in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo in the 1960s. Veloso has won nine Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards, more than any other Brazilian performer. He has also won two MTV Video Music Brazil Awards and three Press Trophies. In 2012 he was named Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. In the 60’s he won a music competition and was signed to his first label. He released his debut album in 1967 titled Domingo and has since released numerous other albums, including Transa, Bicho, Muito, Cinema Transcendental, Uns, Livro, Outras Palavras, Caetano, Fina Estampa, Zii e Zie, Noites do Norte, Brazil and many more. Over his career he has released over 30 studio albums and 20 live albums. In 2004 he released his first fully English album titled A Foreign Sound.
