Caity Lotz is an actress, dancer, and director born on December 30, 1986, in San Diego, California. Lotz began her career as a dancer and has toured with artists like Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga. In 2005, she joined the girl group Soccx, which had two singles that reached the top 10 in Germany. After her time with Soccx, Lotz began fully pursuing a career in acting. After having a small role in Bring It On: All or Nothing, Lotz landed her first recurring role in Mad Men. Lotz then starred in the black comedy mockumentary series Death Valley in 2011. Lotz is most well-known for her role as Sara Lance, a role partially based on the comic book character Black Canary. She first appeared in the series Arrow as a regular cast member in 2012 until 2015. In 2016, she reprised her role in the series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. In 2019, she directed her first short, Twin Turbo, which starred fellow Legends actor, Maisie Richardson-Seller. In 2020, she directed her first episode of Legends of Tomorrow. Lotz is also the co-founder of SheThority, a women's empowerment organization.
