Cannibal Corpse is an American death metal band becased in Tampa, Florida and originally from Buffalo, New York. The band formed in 1988 with members from various rock groups; Alex Webster and Jack Owen from Beyond Death, Chris Barnes, Paul Mazurkiewicz, Bob Rusay from Tirant Sin and Barnes from Leviathan. The band recorded a five-song demo tape titled ‘Cannibal Corpse’ which landed the band a record deal with Metal Blade Records. They released their first full length album in 1990 titled ‘Eaten Back to Life’. The band then released ‘Butchered at Birth’ in 1991 and ‘Tomb of the Mutilated’ in 1992 which garnered a cult following increasing their popularity in the death metal scene. Undergoing member change, the band was left with Owen, Webster, Mazurkiewicz and along with new additions to the group, lead vocalist George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher and guitarist Rob Barrett. Cannibal Corpse, known for their controversial music, released their album, ‘Gallery of Suicide’ in 1998 and followed with ‘Bloodthirst’ in 2000. The band released several albums such as ‘Gore Obsessed’ in 1992, ‘Wretched Spawn’ in 2003, ‘Kill’ in 2006 and their highest charting album, ‘Evisceration Plague’ in 2008. After a huge discography, the Cannibal Corpse members went on to pursue their own personal projects. The band later reunited in 2017 for their fourteenth album, ‘Red Before Black’. The band is rumored to be working on their next album in 2020.
