Cardi B Bio

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus (born October 11, 1992) is an American rapper and songwriter who goes by the stage name Cardi B. She was a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York from 2015 to 2017. She featured on a remix of Shaggy’s “Boom Boom,” which she followed with her debut single “Cheap Ass Weave.” Her first mixtape, Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1, was released in early 2016. She grew to immense prominence on social media and through her appearance on Love & Hip Hop: New York.

Releasing mixtapes in 2016 and 2017, it was her hit song “Bodak Yellow” which lead to her three times platinum certification within the US, charting at number one. The hit led to the artist’s debut studio album Invasion of Privacy, which was released in 2018 to critical acclaim, and also charted high in multiple countries. With ten award wins from over thirty nominations, the artist has climbed to fame quickly, with two Grammy Award nominations in 2018.

She left music in 2022 to become the creative director of the entertainment magazine Playboy.
