Carlos Núñez Muñoz is a Galician multi-instrumentalist, born on July 16, 1971 in Vigo, Spain. He is considered one of the best bagpipers in the world and the world’s most famous player of the gaita, the bagpipes of Galicia. He began playing Galician flute and transferred to playing the bagpipes when he was eight years old. He started his professional music career at the age of thirteen when he was discovered by Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains and performed with the band for two years. He released his debut solo album A Irmandade das Estrelas (Brotherhood of Stars in English) in 1996. The album features other artists such as The Chieftains, Nightnoise, Dulce Pontes, Luz Casal, Tino di Geraldo, and others. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with Sinéad O'Connor and Sharon Shannon.
Carlos is considered a scholar of Celtic music. His research includes the origin of Celtic music and its fusion with current world music.
