Carrie was born on July 31st, 1978 in Austin, Texas, United States. Her full name is Carrie Luz Rodriguez. Her father (David Rodriguez) was a popular singer-songwriter and a poet, and her mother, Katy Nail was a prolific painter in Texas.
Carrie started the Suzuki program learning how to play the violin when she was 5. She decided to move her focus from classical music after a tour across Europe with her dad. Her talent was spotted by Chip Taylor (a famed songwriter who composed Wild Thing and Angel of the Morning, both big hits.) in 2001 when Carrie was playing in a show with Hayseed, a country artist. She released four albums between 2002-2005 with Taylor.
By 2006 she released her first solo Seven Angels on a Bicycle through Taylor's Train Wreck Records label and it got the attention of EMI's roots music imprint Back Porch Music, who reissued the album again in late 2006. Carrie has gone on to release other songs and albums that solidified her place as a veteran singer.
