Judith Lewis, better known by her pen name Cassandra Clare, is an American novelist, screenwriter, and film producer best known for her fantasy fiction books. She was born in Tehran, Iran, on July 27, 1973.
Cassandra began writing for magazines and tabloids at a young age, but she became famous in 2007 when her debut novel City of Bones was released to much fanfare. She subsequently released the books City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and the City of Heavenly Fire.
The book series came to be known as The Mortal Instruments, and it was adapted into the 2013 film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which featured Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, and Jemima West.
Cassandra has since written the book series The Infernal Devices, The Bane Chronicles, The Dark Artifices, The Eldest Curses, The Last Hours, The Wicked Powers, and The Magisterium series.
