Catfish & The Bottlemen are a British indie-rock band that was formed in 2007. The band was formed in Llandudno, Wales consisting of members Ryan Evan ‘Van’ McCann as the singer/songwriter, Billy Bibby as the guitarist, Benji Blakeway as the bassist and Bob Hall as their drummer. The Bottlemen performed at gigs around their town from 2007 to 2010 and eventually signed to Communion Music in 2013. The band released three singles with Communion and signed with Island Records in 2014. In the same year, they released ‘Kathleen’ which debuted on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 and ranked number one on MTV’s Hottest Tracks. After the single release, Catfish & The Bottlemen went to perform at festivals around the UK and Europe including Strawberry Fields Festival, Latitude, Reading and Leeds amongst many others. By the end of 2014, the band released their debut album, ‘The Balcony’. This landed at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart and became a certified silver album in the UK in 2015. In 2016, the band won a Brit Award for the British Breakthrough Act category. Following their win, they released their second album, ‘The Ride’ in 2016 and ‘The Balance’ in 2019. After the release of ‘The Balance’, Catfish & The Bottlemen have toured worldwide in the UK, Australia and in the U.S. Their hit, ‘Kathleen’ now has 91 million plays on Spotify along with their other hits, ‘7’ of their ‘The Ride’ album with 80 million plays and ‘Cocoon’ of their ‘The Balcony’ album with 68 million plays.
