Charles "Chad" Hugo (popularly known as Chad Hugo) is an American Grammy Award-winning producer, saxophonist, pianist and guitarist who was born on February 24th 1974 in South Hampton Roads city of Portsmouth, Virginia. He was raised in Virginia Beach. Hugo attended Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach and later moved on to Old Dominion University on a Music Scholarship.
He met his production partner Pharrell Williams in the seventh grade, and the two have been working together ever since. Along with Pharrell, he has produced numerous number-one hit tracks. In the early 1990s, they formed the production duo The Neptunes. Later they started the band N.E.R.D, alongside Shay Haley. The Neptunes received the Producers of the Year award at the Billboard Music Awards in August 2002. With the Neptunes, he won the 2004 Grammy for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. Chad has done solo productions for artists like Kenna, Alicia Keys, Ashlee Simpson, Daniel Merriweather, Mos Def, and many others.
