Chad Johnson Bio

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson is an American professional football player born in Miami, Florida, in 1978. He is known for his outlandish touchdown celebrations. He started playing football with his neighborhood friends as a child, and played for the Miami Beach High School varsity team. In 1997 he enrolled in Santa Monica College and joined the Corsairs. In 1999 he started standing out as a receiver under the wing of coach Charlie Collins, and later joined the Oregon State University Beavers. In 2001 he was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals at the NFL draft and helped the team break its losing streak during the following seasons, becoming a central piece in the team’s tactics. In 2011 he was traded to the New England Patriots and went on to play the Super Bowl XLVI with the team. Johnson also played a short season for the Miami Dolphins in 2012, before leaving the NFL and being recruited in the Canadian Football League from 2014 to 2015. Johnson has been named Pro Bowler by the NFL six times and was voted the top Bengals receiver for the team’s 40th anniversary.
