María del Rosario Goico Rodríguez, widely known as Charytin, is an actress, TV presenter, and singer born on May 23, 1949, in Santa Lucía, El Seibo, Dominican Republic. Her song, Mosquita Muerta, brought her into the limelight. She represented the Dominican Republic in the third edition of the OTI Festival in 1974, finishing in fifth place.
Charytin has released several albums, including Charytín (1974), La Dulce Charytín (1977), Canciones de la pelicula Prohibido Amar en Nueva York (1982), and De Regreso Al Pasado (1987). She portrayed Janet in Prohibido amar en Nueva York. She starred in Broche de Oro: Comienzos, Mi Suegra y Yo, and Vienes o voy?
Charytin has worked with Frank Perozo, Milly Quezada, Iris Chacón, and Andrés García. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Art Critics Association of the Dominican Republic in 2007. She received the ACE Extraordinary Award for Distinction and Merit at the 35th Annual ACE Awards.
