Chazz Palminteri is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and play writer born in the Bronx, New York on May 15, 1952. He is best known for writing and staring in the play A Bronx Tale and staring in the film adaptation of the play. He is also known for his roles in Bullets over Broadway, The Usual Suspects, and Modern Family. He started his career in theater, and worked as a bouncer to support himself while getting into acting. After hitting a low point in his career he wrote A Bronx Tale a play where he starred as all 35 characters. The play was a success and sold out for months. He was contacted in 1993 by Robert De Niro to turn his play into a movie. This kickstarted his career and he was contacted by Woody Allen in 1994 to play in Bullets Over Broadway with he received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since landed roles in numerous television shows and movies, including The Perez Family, Scar City, Down to Earth, Underdogs, Legend, Wiseguy, Blue Bloods, among others. He has been nominated for several awards for his roles and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male and a Dramatic Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble Performance.
