Chevelle is an American rock band consisting of a trio of brothers. The band formed in 1995 and includes vocalist and guitarist Peter Loeffler, drummer Sam Loeffler and bassist and background vocalist Joe Loeffler. The brothers are natives of Grayslake, Illinois and are all self taught musicians who named the band after their love for cars. Chevelle began to record their demo in 1988 titled ‘The Blue Album’ which only contained 7 tracks. Along with their demo release, Chevelle performed at small concerts until Steve Taylor of Squint Entertainment signed them to his record label. The band had the opportunity to record with Steve Albini and released their debut studio album, ‘Point #1’ in 1999. Their two singles off the album, ‘Point #1’ and ‘Mia’ both received GMA Dove Awards in 2001. Unfortunately, Squint Entertainment closed down and Chevelle signed with Epic Records to release their second album, ‘Wonder What’s Next’. The album turned platinum and their single off the album, ‘Send the Pain Below’ landed on number 1 on the charts. Following this success, Chevelle released their third album in 2004, ‘This Type of Thinking’ which then became a gold certified album by the RIAA. Although Joe left the band in 2005, he was quickly replaced with Geno Lenardo then was replaced by Dean Bernardini. Regardless of the member change, the band continued to make music and went on to release five albums; ‘Vena Sera’, in 2007 followed by ‘Sci-Fi Crimes’ in 2009 ‘Hats Off to the Bull’ in 2011, ‘La Gargola’ in 2014 and ‘The North Corridor’ in 2016. According to the band’s website, Chevelle is currently touring and is still holding concerts around the U.S.
