Chris Smalling is a professional football player who currently plays for Serie A club Roma as a center-back. Born on 22nd November 1989 in Greenwich, England, Smalling started his football career in 2002 with Millwall youth academy. In 2006, he joined Maidstone United, where he made his senior debut the following year. In 2008, he joined Fulham and made his premier league debut in May 2009, replacing Aaron Hughes in a 2 – 0 loss to Everton.
In January 2010, he joined Manchester United but remained at Fulham until the end of the season. He made his premier league debut for Manchester United in January 2011, partnering Serbian former football player Nemanja Vidic in a 2 – 1 win over Stoke City. In August 2019, he went on a season-long loan to Roma. The following season, he joined Roma on a permanent three-year deal. Internationally, Smalling had made 31 appearances for the England national team.
