Born on August 19, 1986, singer Christina Perri grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When she was 16 years old, she taught herself how to play guitar, and became inspired by the music of bands such as Guns N’ Roses. She eventually moved to Los Angeles, but after going through a divorce, she returned to Philadelphia in 2009. In the summer of 2010, the song that she had penned “Jar of Hearts” was used on an episode of the show So You Think You Can Dance, and it placed at #28 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart. Later that year, she released her EP The Ocean Way Sessions, and followed it the next year with her debut album Lovestrong. The single “A Thousand Years” carried her to prominence, as it was featured in the film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. “A Thousand Years” went quadruple Platinum. She eventually released her second album in 2014, entitled Head or Heart, for which she announced a tour in the Spring of that year.
