Christine and the Queens Bio

Christine and the Queens, born Héloïse Letissier, is a recording artist from Nantes, France, who has been active since the 2010s. She started independently releasing EPs in 2012, through which she would earn spots opening for the likes of Lykke Li and Woodkid. She signed to independent label Because Music in 2013, on which she released her third EP, Nuit 17 à 52, her first release to hit the national charts. Her synth pop sound found its first full-length home on her studio debut, Chaleur Humaine, which was released on Because Music in 2014. It was sold as Christine and the Queens in the United States in a bid to have her success cross over the Atlantic. In part due to a feature from Perfume Genius, the move was largely successful, and the album was generally well received in a number of British and American publications.
