Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer, also known as Christopher Plummer is a Canadian actor born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1929. As a young stage actor, he stood out in North American productions of Shakespeare's works. In the 1960s he started acting on the big screen, with villain roles including the 1965 musical hit “The Sound of Music” as Captain Von Trapp. Plummer’s other notorious roles include a portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in 1979’s “Murder by Decree,” and leading roles in 1978’s “The Silent Partner,” 1999’s “The Insider,” 2001’s “A Beautiful Mind,” and the 2009 Academy Award-nominated “The Last Station.” After more than 40 years of career, in 2010 Plummer won an Academy Award for his performance on the drama “Beginners,” adding up to his two Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, and one Genie Award. Plummer passed away in February 2021 in Connecticut, United States.
