Erik Alejandro Iglesias Rodríguez, widely known as Cimafunk, is a singer, songwriter, and producer born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, on April 7, 1989. He worked as a session arranger and producer for Raúl Paz, David Torrens, and Liuba María Hevia. He was a singer and composer for the band Interactivo from 2014 to 2016.
Cimafunk blends Afro-Cuban and African American music with funk, electronic, Latin alternative, and RnB. He released his debut album, Terapia, in 2017, with songs like Paciente and Parar el tiempo. His 2018 single, Me Voy, earned him Vistar Magazine's Artist of the Year and the Lucas Award for Most Popular Video.
Cimafunk made Billboard's Top 10 Latin Artists to Watch in 2019. He performed at the 2019 South by Southwest Music Festival. His sophomore album, El Alimento, was number three on Rolling Stone's Best Spanish-Language and Bilingual Albums of 2021 and number 23 on its 50 Best Albums of 2021. He has collaborated with Chucho Valdés, George Clinton, Lupe Fiasco, and La Orquesta Aragon.
