CJ, also known as Chris Soriano, is an American rapper born in 1997 in Staten Island, New York. At age 16 he started rapping, and three years later he turned to the Brooklyn Drill style, attracting the attention of Dizzy Banko and a team of collaborators. In August 2020 he got his big break with the single “WHOOPTY,” met with critical acclaim and a rapidly growing streaming count, reaching 1 million plays by September and quickly entering Billboard's Hot 100 chart. CJ also went viral on TikTok shortly after, strengthening the delivery of the young artist’s debut. Soriano has also amassed over 4 million followers on that social network. CJ has also collaborated with Busta Rhymes, Iamsu, Zabo, and Bopa Mx. CJ signed with rapper French Montana in 2020.
