Clean Bandit Bio
The band Clean Bandit from England is comprised of three Jesus College, University of Cambridge graduates: Jack Patterson on bass, sax, and deck; Grace Chatto on strings; and Milan Neil Amin-Smith, also on strings. Luke Patterson later joined the group and plays drums. They originally formed in 2006, due to the fact that Chatto and Amin-Smith were both in a string quartet. Patterson and Chatto began dating, and eventually came up with the name “Clean Bandit”. The quartet released their debut single “A + E” in December of 2012, which charted low on the UK Singles Chart, but nevertheless gave them the impetus to keep working.
The group began steadily releasing singles from their 2014 album New Eyes; the first was entitled “UK Shanty”, followed by “Mozart’s House”, which rose to the #17 spot on the UK Singles Chart. The following “Dust Clears” and “Rather Be” singles also managed to chart on the UK Singles list. Their 2014 debut album was released under Atlantic Records, and the popularity of their songs in dance clubs and on the Internet sparked a UK tour in late 2014.
