Cloud Nothings is an American indie punk and rock band from Cleveland Ohio. The band is comprised of founder Dylan Baldi as the lead singer and vocals, Jayson Gerycz on drums, Chris Brown on guitar and TJ Duke on bass. Originally a solo project, Baldi began Cloud Nothings as a ‘fake band’ on his MySpace posting original songs of his vocals with a number of layered instruments. Eventually, rock promoter Todd Patrick reached out to Baldi to perform at the Market Hotel in Brooklyn, which urged Baldi to assemble a band for a performance in 2009. Cloud Nothing’s unexpected beginning brought them to further success when Bridgetown Records’ Kevin Greenspan approached the band to aid them in an EP release. The band then released ‘Turning On’ in 2010 with their single, ‘Didn’t You’ being featured in the 2013 film, Chlorine. Eventually, Carpark Records signed Cloud Nothings in the same year re-releasing ‘Turning On’ with an extra 5 tracks on the album. Their first album, ‘Cloud Nothings’ was released in 2011 which received favourable attention to the band. This was followed by their second album, ‘Attack on Memory’, in 2012 which received Best New Album on music blog Pitchfork. After the release of ‘Attack on Memory’, the band made appearances at festivals such as Coachella and Laneway Festival in Australia. As Cloud Nothings’ began to prosper globally, they released their fourth album, ‘Here and Nowhere Else’ in 2014, a joint album with Wavves titled ‘No Life for Me’ in 2015, ‘Life Without Sound’ in 2017 and ‘Last Building Bridge in 2018 which peaked at number 23 on the U.S. Indie Charts. Their biggest hit, ‘I’m Not A Part of Me’ currently has 7.6 million plays on Spotify along with their hits ‘Modern Act’ and ‘Internal World’ which were both used as TV soundtracks for The Originals and 13 Reasons Why, respectively.
