Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band from Los Angeles, California and was formed in 1994. The formation of Coal Chamber was by vocalist and lyricist B. Dez Fafara and guitarist Miguel “Meegs” Rascon. Both were part of a band called She’s In Pain but decided to create Coal Chamber together with the addition of Mike “Mikee’ Cox as the drummer and Rayna Foss as their bassist. In the same year, the band’s demo tape was advocated for by Dino Cazares from Fear Factory who gave the band the opportunity at a record deal with Roadrunner Records. Coal Chamber released their first album debut in 1997 titled ‘Coal Chamber’, a mix of nu metal and goth rock. The band followed this with a second album in 2002 titled ‘Dark Days’. Unfortunately, after the release of ‘Dark Days’ the band disbanded due to complications within the group. Fafara went on to perform with a new band, DevilDriver, releasing six studio albums. After 11 years, the band reunited in 2013 with remaining members Meegs Rascon, Dez Fafara, Mike Cox and Nadja Peulen, who replaced bassist Foss in 2002. Their official comeback performance was in the same year at the Download Festival in the UK. In 2015, Coal Chamber released a new album titled ‘Rivals’ under Napalm Records and is said to be currently active to date.
