Béatrice Martin (French pronunciation: [beatis mat]; born September 22, 1989) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist better known by her stage name Cœur de pirate; French for Pirate's Heart).
She is a Montreal native who sings largely in French and has been praised by the Montreal Mirror for "bringing French chanson to a whole new generation of Quebec kids."
Cœur de pirate won a "Bucky" award from CBC Radio 3 in 2009, which was decided by audience voting. "Comme des enfants" won the "Bucky" award for "Best Reason to Learn French" in 2009.
At the Francophone SOCAN Awards in Montreal in 2010, Martin received the International Achievement Award. She also won the National Academy of Video Game Trade's Original Light Mix Score, New IP award in 2014.
