Christian music singer Colton Dixon was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on October 19, 1991. After making a short appearance in Hannah Montana: The Movie, he and his sister tried out for the tenth season of American Idol in Nashville, yet neither of them were able to move on. He later sang on an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show in early 2011. The next season’s auditions of American Idol were more prosperous, as he was finally awarded the chance to move on, where he placed in the Top 25 of the contestants, though he was eliminated after advancing to the Top 7. The coverage Colton Dixon got on the show, however, was enough to catapult him into national fame, and on the 2012 Idol tour, he performed his original song “Never Gone”, which he followed with his debut single “You Are”. Colton Dixon released his debut album A Messenger in early 2013, which went to the top slot on both the US Gospel and the US Christian charts, selling over 100,000 copies. He followed it with his sophomore album Anchor, released in the summer of 2014.
