BUIKA Bio

Concha Buika is a Spanish singer, poet, and music producer born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on May 11, 1972. She started her career in music playing the drums and the bass guitar. She became popular in the late 90’s singing coplas in Madrid nightclubs. In 2000 she released her debut album Mestizo and has since released the albums Buika, Mi Nina Lola, Nina de Fuego, El Último Trago, En Mi Piel, La Noche Más Larga and Para mi. Her album Nina de Fuego was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award of the Year in 2008 and her album Noche Mas Larga was nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2014 at the Grammy Awards. She has collaborated with a number of other artists, including Nelly Furtado, Seal, Jason Mraz, Mariza, Luz Casal, Javier Limon, Jose Luis Perales, and more. Concha has performed internationally in places like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Africa, The United States, and others. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards and has won a Latin Grammy Award, two Premios de la Musica Awards, a Germany Visual Critics Award among others.
