Conchita Wurst Bio
Thomas Neuwirth is a famous singer and drag queen born on November 6, 1988 in Gmunden, Austria. He started pursuing a career in music when he joined the television show Starmania in 2006 and subsequently placed second. The following year, he formed the band Jetzt Anders! but they disbanded within the same year. In 2011, he created the drag persona of Conchita Wurst and appeared in the televised talent program Die große Chance, where he placed sixth. In 2012, he tried his luck in the Austrian National Final for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest but only came second. In 2013, however, it was announced that he has been selected to represent Austria in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. He won the said competition with the song Rise Like A Phoenix, marking Austria’s first win since 1966. The song became a hit in Europe, and the albums he released after his victory — Conchita (2015) and From Vienna with Love (2018) — have all peaked atop the Austrian albums chart.
