Conor Byrne is an Irish singer and songwriter who was born on September 22nd 1972 in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Conor attended the Gaelscoil Inse Chór Primary School and started tin whistle lessons tutored by Con Ó Tuama. He would later learn the flute with lessons from Cian O’Sullivan and Paul McGrattan.
Conor’s debut album Wind Dancer appeared in 1998 with a live performance on the The Late Late Show. He featured several artists on the album including Christy Moore, Luka Bloom, Liam Ó Maonlai, and Cathy Jordan (Dervish). His other list of recordings includes John Renbourne (Pentangle), Christy Moore, Luka Bloom, Eimear Quinn – The Voice, Poirt na Coille, Ceilliúradh and Máire Breatnach. He has also performed with some artists including Anúna, Maura
O’Connell, Moya Brennan, Tim O’Brien, Paul Brady, and Robbie Hannon.
Conor has TV performances under his belt and they include Ionad Cois Locha with Méabh O’Hare and Niall Ó Callánain, Christy Moore Uncovered (RTE), Geantraí (Tg4), Banish Misfortune (RTE) and Eurovison ’96 Oslö (RTE).
