Constantine Maroulis is an American rock singer and actor, born on September 17, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York. He rose to fame while competing on American Idol’s 4th season, where he lost to Carrie Underwood. In 2009, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Performance for a Leading Actor in a Musical for his role in Rock of Ages. He appeared as a lead actor in the musical Jekyll and Hyde.
Constantine is of Greek descent and the brother of recording artists and producer Athan Maroulis. He graduated in 2002 from Boston Conservatory with a BA in Fine Arts. He was a lead singer in a band called Pray For The Soul of Betty. The band received a deal with Koch Records which has also signed Wyclef Jean, The Kinks, Leonard Bernstein, and many more. Constantine started his solo career in 2005, performing in New Jersey, Manila, and the Philippines. In 2007, he created an independent label, Sixth Place Records, and released his solo album titled Constantine. In 2013, he performed the National Anthem for the New York Yankees. As an actor and producer, he is known for Psychosis, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Rock of Ages.
