Counting Crows is an American rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. The members of the band are Adam Duritz on lead vocals and piano, Dan Vickrey on lead guitar, David Immergluck on lead guitar, pedal steel, mandolin, and bass guitar, David Bryson on guitar, Charlie Gillingham on keyboards, accordion, and piano, Millard Powers on bass guitar, guitar, and piano, and Jim Bogios on drums and percussion. They released their debut album in 1993 titled August and Everything After. The album reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 and was their best selling album. They followed it up with the albums Recovering the Satellites, This Desert Life, Hard Candy, Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, Underwater Sunshine (or What We Did on Our Summer Vacation), and Somewhere Under Wonderland. Six of the band’s albums have charted on the Billboard 200 and four have been certified gold or platinum by the RIAA. They have sold over 20 million records worldwide. In 1994 they were nominated for a Grammy Award and in 2004 were nominated for an Academy Award.
