Courtney Bernard Vance, known as Courtney B. Vance, is an award-winning American actor best known for his work in film and television. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States, on March 12, 1960. Courtney began his acting career in 1983 when he appeared in the TV film First Affair. He has since been successful in both film and TV, with recurring roles in the TV series 61st Street, Genius, American Crime Story, State of Affairs, and Flashforward. He is best known for starring in the investigative crime series Law & Order: Criminal Intent alongside Kathryn Erbe, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jamey Sheridan, and Jeff Goldblum. Courtney’s filmography includes the blockbusters The Hunt for Red October, Space Cowboys, Terminator Genisys, Dangerous Minds, The Mummy, Office Christmas Party, and The Preacher's Wife. He has won multiple awards for his acting including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, an IGN Summer Movie Award for Best TV Actor, and a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actor, TV Movie or Limited Series.
