Christine Murray (professionally known as Crissy Rock) is an English actress and writer. She was born on September 23 1958 in Liverpool, England. Her father was a coalman.
She first tried stand-up comedy before she won a part as Maggie Conlan in Ken Loach's film Ladybird. She won the Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for her terrific play in the film Ladybird. She retired from acting in 2003 to Spain where she ran her bar in Benidorm. That was when Daran Little discovered her in Benidorm and wrote the role of Janey York with Crissy in mind. The ITV1 comedy (Benidorm) helped make her more famous.
She is famously known for her acting roles in Ladybird (1994), Cotton Wool (2017), and Benidorm (2007). She wrote her autobiography This Heart Within Me Burns: From Bedlam to Benidorm in 2011, and she was one of the few celebrities to be on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in the same year.
