Cuba Gooding Jr. was born on January 2, 1968 in The Bronx, New York. His first entertainment job was with Lionel Richie in the 1984 Olympics, where Cuba was a break dancer. This exposure landed him roles in television shows like MacGyver (1988, 1989, 1990), and Amen (1988). He earned his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jerry Maguire (1996).
After his Oscar win, Gooding had a very full career starring in films like Snow Dogs (2002), What Dreams May Come (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Home on the Range (2004). Many of his more recent films have been direct-to-DVD and often ignored by critics. He also had a leading role in the television series American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson (2016).
