Cult of Luna is a post-metal band from Sweden founded in 1998.The band has seen changes in their members over the years. The band comprises Andreas Johansson, Fredrik Kihlberg, Johannes Persson, Kristian Karlsson, Magnus Lindberg, and Thomas Hedlund. The band is famous for their commercially successful albums “Somewhere Along the Highway” in 2006 and “Salvation” in 2004.
The band has a post-metal music approach similar to Isis and Neurosis. After a quiet start, they gained fame with their 2001 debut album “Cult of Luna” and 2003 "The Beyond." However, their success came with their 2004 album “Salvation.” Other notable releases include “Eternal Kingdom” in 2008, “Fire Was Born" in 2009, and "Vertikal" in 2012. In 2013, they released an accompanying extended play, "Vertikal II ."Later, in 2016, they released the album "Mariner” together with Julie Christmas. In 2019, they signed a deal with Metal Blade Records and released "The Silent Man" the same year.
