Cynthia Erivo Bio
Cynthia Erivo, also known as Cynthia Onyedinmanasu Chinasaokwu Erivo, is a British singer, actress, and composer born in London in 1987. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and had her major theater debut in 2011. She toured with the comedy musical “Sister Act”, and kept on getting roles on West End. In 2015 she made her TV debut in “Chewing Gum” in a one-time appearance, and later that year she released a full-length album with Oliver Tompsett and Scott Alan. In 2015 she was also cast for the musical “The Color Purple”, and opposite Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Hudson, and a year later she was featured in the corresponding soundtrack album. She has also featured on TV shows like “Mr. Selfridge”, “The Tunnel”, and “Broad City” as a recurring actress. With 2018’s “Widows”, directed by Steve McQueen, Erivo debuted as a film actress, and in 2019 her portrayal of Harriet Tubman in “Harriet” earned her two Academy Awards for Best Actress and Best Song.
