Cypress Hill gained notoriety as being the first Latino hip-hop artists to have achieved platinum and multi-platinum albums. They were an influential part of the West Coast rap and hip-hop movement in the 1990’s. The three-time Grammy Award nominated group currently has four members - B-Real (Louis Freese)(lead vocals), Sen Dog (Senen Reyes) (vocals), DJ Muggs (lawrence Muggerud) (turntables, production), and Eric Bobo (drums, percussion). The group was formed by Sen Dog and DJ Muggs, and called DVX at its inception in 1986. After an addition to the band left by 1988, they renamed the project Cypress Hill and signed with Columbia Records in 1991. Hit singles immediately ensued with ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man,’ and ‘The Phuncky Feel One.’ The group has completed eight albums since 1991 and is most recently working on a tenth, entitled Elephants on Acid, due for a 2016 release.
