Darryl Gerard “D. J.” Augustin Jr. was born on November 10, 1987 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Augustin plays the point guard position for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended High school at Brother Martin in New Orleans and Hightower in Missouri City, Texas. Augustin played college basketball for the University of Texas Longhorns from 2006 to 2008. He was drafted in the first round as the ninth overall pick by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2008 NBA draft.
Augustin has won many awards and honors, including the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2009, Bob Cousy Award in 2008, Consensus first-team All-American in 2008, First-team All-Big 12 in 2008, Second-team All-Big 12 in 2007, Big 12 All-Rookie Team in 2007, Progressive Legends Classic Tournament MVP in 2007, and McDonald’s All-American in 2006.
