Born in 1985, California native D Smoke (Daniel Anthony Farris) was crowned the champion of the 2019 Netflix show “Rhythm and Flow,” a hip-hop competition featuring star judges Chance the Rapper, T.I., and Cardi B. The contest earned him a cash prize of $250,000 and showcased his raw talent in the hip hop industry. D Smoke has worked with such artists as Kendrick Lamar, Ginuwine, the Pussycat Dolls and his brother, R&B singer SiR. He has also received professional recognition for co-writing the 2007 song “Never for Jaheim,” which nearly made the top 10 on a Billboard music list. Music is not D Smoke’s only passion. He is also a songwriter and a high school educator. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Chance the Rapper by staying an independent artist and staying true to his core values and beliefs.
