As an indie rock singer and songwriter, Damien Jurado originated from Seattle, Washington. His musical influences are Nick Drake, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman. Jurado felt that his sense of independence will lead him to the music scene he always wanted. He started playing punk for local bands in 1989. Then by the ‘90s, Jurado started off for a solo career, releasing his tunes via Casa Recordings.
In 1997, Jurado released his debut album “Water Ave S.” followed by the EP “Gathered in Song” the in 1998. In 1999, “Rehearsals for Departure” became his biggest break which made him critically acclaimed. Then in 2000, he released “Ghost of David” which was considered to be darker and different than his usual music style.
