Dan Stevens is an English actor. Born in Croydon, London his career began in theatre and after several roles in television and films such as the BBC Adaptation of Sense & Sensibility playing Edward Ferrars in the Jane Austen adaptation, he got his big break playing Matthew Crawley in the acclaimed period drama show Downton Abbey, which also starred Hugh Bonneville and Jim Carter.
He then went onto critical and commercial success when he portrayed the Beast in the live action adaptation of Disney’s classic Beauty and The Beast. He then worked on films such as Marshall and portrayed Charles Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas. He can currently be seen in the television show Legion as David Haller.
