Danny Boyle is an English film director, producer, screenwriter, and theater director born in Radcliffe, England in October 20, 1956. He his best known for his work on the films Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later, The Beach, Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire, Steve Jobs, and 127 Hours. He started his career directing theater productions at the Joint Stock Theatre Company, the Royal Court Theatre, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He directed several theatre productions including Saved, The Genius, and others. In 1987 he started working as television producer and director and worked on a number of television movies and shows. His debut feature film was Shallow Grave in 1994. The film won a BAFTA Award for Best British Film. His 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won eight of those nominations. In 2012 he was the artistic director of the opening ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, titled Isles of Wonder. In 1984 he published his first book titled The Filmmakers Film Lovers Survival Trivia Cookbook and released a second book in 2013 titled Slumdog Millionaire, Class Set: Helbling Readers Movies/Level 5 (B1). Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, a Golden Globe Award, an Empire Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Satellite Award and many more.
