Danny Brown is an award-winning rapper and writer from Detroit who found success as a DJ and social media personality. He began in the hip-hop group Reser’vor Dogs, and gained the attention of the Roc-A-Fella label where he released his mixtape, Detroit State of Mind. Partnering with Tony Yayo of 50 Cent’s collaborative, G-Unit, they recorded ‘Hawaiian Snow,’ in 2010. Brown stayed true to his hipster image and released his first solo album, The Hybrid, on the indie record label, Rappers I Know. His trademark high-pitched voice made him stand out and albums XXX, and Old, featuring A$AP Rocky, were released in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He is writing a children’s book on self-esteem in black women and has won the Woodie Award for Best Video for his song, ‘Grown Up.’
