Baseball player James Dansby Swanson was born on 11th February 1994 in Kennesaw, Georgia. Growing up in a family of college athletes, he was always interested in sports. In high school, he even earned the title ‘Three-Point Swanson’ for his basketball skills but he was focused on baseball. He was selected for the 2012 MLB Draft after high school but chose to play for the Vanderbilt Commodores instead. Most of his freshman year was missed because of injuries but when the Commodores won their first championship in 2014, he was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player. In the following year, he won the Brooks Wallace Award for best collegiate baseball player. In 2015, he joined the Diamondbacks. In 2016, in his MLB debut year and became the first rookie from Atlanta to be named to the 2017 Braves’ Opening Roster. He has also represented USA Baseball at the Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands.
