Daria Saville Bio
Daria Saville is a Russian-Australian professional tennis player born on March 5, 1994 in Moscow, Russia. She once represented Russia at the international level from 2009 - 2015, before switching to Australia.
Also known as Dasha, she represented Russia at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. She progressed to the final, beating Zheng Saisai of China eventually to win gold. Following her impressive win, she was ranked #1 junior player by the ITF.
Saville competed at the US Open junior category in the singles and doubles, winning the former and losing the latter. After achieving immense success at the junior level, she was awarded a wildcard into the main draw of the WTA event in Moscow. However, she lost her debut match to Ukraine’s Alona Bondarenko in straight sets.
From 2011 till date, the 28-year-old played in WTA events like Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. She recorded impressive victories against former Grand Slam champions, such as Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, and Ana Ivanovic. All players were ranked in the top ten as of the time of the beating.
Her best finish at a Grand Slam came in 2017 at the Australian Open where she reached the 4th round. She has a career record of 280 - 220, with one WTA Tour singles and three doubles titles.
